It is our pleasure to welcome you, on behalf of the Board of the European Society of Retina Specialists, to the App of the 19th EURETINA Congress in Paris.
The success of the annual congress has been well documented in its 18-year history. From a meeting of only 200 delegates in 2001, EURETINA today hosts over 5000 delegates, making it the largest retina congress in the world.
The society’s contribution to education has continued to increase since the introduction of the successful observership scheme and online education program. The investment in a retinal clinical research funding initiative to offer grant opportunities to successful candidates from across Europe has proven fruitful with annual engagement still high.
The Board continues its commitment this year to reduce waste, lower carbon emissions, and use sustainably and ethically-sourced congress materials. These include biodegradable delegate bags and recycled paper and lanyards.
Finally, the success of the EURETINA Congress is a culmination of the efforts of each person who has travelled to be here today. I wish to thank our well known and respected chairpersons and speakers all celebrated in their field who have generously given their time and energy to the EURETINA programme ensuring its success.
